The girl on a swing as you may have guessed, is myself at the age of seven. It depicts a happy child enjoying innocent fun. I have fond memories of playing on swings, this one was hung over the branch of an oak tree at the end of our garden. The lack of shoes is meant to signify the carefree attitude of childhood, and being at one with nature.
The flowers are Spring ones but signify being young.
